What this is
Global Conflict Awareness (GCA) is an independent open-source intelligence platform. It continuously monitors public reporting on armed conflict and geopolitical tension, extracts individual events from that reporting, geolocates them, attributes them to a side, and places them on interactive maps covering five theatres: the US–Israel–Iran confrontation, the Russia–Ukraine war, the Taiwan Strait, NATO–Russia tension along the European flank, and US–Cuba tension in the Caribbean.
GCA is not a news outlet and does not employ reporters. It does not break stories, and it does not claim to. What it produces is a structured layer on top of public reporting: coordinates, side attribution, corroboration counts, normalised timestamps, and comparison over time. That layer does not exist in the original sources, and it is the reason the platform exists.
Why it exists
Conflict reporting is fast, fragmented and scattered across languages. A single day may produce hundreds of items across dozens of outlets in six or seven languages, with no shared structure, no coordinates and no way to compare today against yesterday. Anyone trying to follow a theatre seriously ends up rebuilding the same picture by hand, every day.
GCA automates that reconstruction and publishes the result openly. The intended readers are analysts, researchers, journalists, students and anyone who needs a geographic and temporal overview rather than a chronological feed.
What it deliberately does not do
- It does not verify events on the ground. Everything it publishes derives from public reporting.
- It does not assign casualty figures, attribute responsibility, or make legal determinations.
- It does not republish full articles. Source text is capped, attributed, and always linked back.

Editorial independence
GCA is operated independently. It receives no funding, sponsorship or editorial input from any government, political organisation, defence contractor or media group. No party has the ability to add, remove or reorder an event.
How it is funded
The platform is free to use and carries no paywall. Running costs — infrastructure, map tiles, translation and e-mail delivery — are covered by display advertising. Advertising is handled by a third-party network; advertisers have no access to editorial decisions and no visibility into what is published or when. Where advertising appears, it is visually separated from content and labelled.
