Copyright and takedown procedure
A direct route for rights holders, and what we already do to limit reproduction.
Our position
We publish headlines and short excerpts from public feeds, always attributed by name and always accompanied by an outbound link to the original publication. We do not republish full articles, and we do not reproduce photographs or logos carried by source feeds — those belong to their publishers and agencies, and are not ours to display.
If, despite that, material of yours appears here in a way you did not intend, the procedure below is the fastest route to resolution.
How to make a request
Write to dmca@globalconflictawareness.com with:
- The URL on this site where the material appears, and enough detail to identify the item (theatre, date, headline).
- Identification of the protected work, with a link to the original publication.
- Your capacity: rights holder, or authorised to act on their behalf.
- A statement that the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your request is accurate.
- Contact details for our reply. A signature is not required and we will not delay on a formality.
What happens next
- Acknowledgement within 3 working days.
- Action within 5 working days of a request we can identify.
- Where a request is clearly founded, we remove first and discuss afterwards.
- Where a whole feed is concerned, we can apply a standing restriction: headline only, or full exclusion of the source from the pipeline. Tell us which you want; it is applied at the ingestion stage, so it also covers future material.
Options short of removal
Removal is not always what a publisher wants. We can also:
- shorten the displayed excerpt for your material, or show the headline alone;
- change how your outlet is credited;
- add a canonical link to your version;
- exclude your feed entirely, permanently.
Any of these can be applied on a simple written request from the rights holder. We would rather adjust the treatment than lose the source.
Counter-notice
If material was removed and you believe that was an error, write to the same address setting out why. We will review and restore where the objection is founded.
Repeat infringement
A source that repeatedly carries material published without rights is removed from the pipeline. This is applied to feeds, not to individuals, and it is applied at ingestion so that it takes effect immediately.
Distressing material
Separately from copyright: if an excerpt or image description is gratuitously distressing, or identifies a victim, write to the same address and it will be removed. We do not require you to be the rights holder to ask for that.
